Geometric Shapes.

We used geometric shapes to make a beautiful landscape. Then we were able to show it in assembly to the other Junior School classes - Years 0, 1, 2 and 3. Now our pictures are on the classroom wall in Room 1.

Our Museum Visit.

On Tuesday the 30th of October, Room 1 went on the bus to the Auckland Museum.

We have been learning about different cultures and we listened to a man talk to us about Tonga.  He could play a kind of flute with his nose.

We made a beautiful flower necklace. We had to do flower, straw, straw, flower, straw, straw to make the pattern.

Afterwards we had a great big look around the museum at all of the cool things.
We had an AMAZING day!!

Art Exhibition 2019.

We made some beautiful dragonflies in Room1. First we drew an outline on the big cardboard. Then we used PVA paint to go over the top. Mrs Kerr said - don't squeeze too hard!!

We covered the card in tinfoil and black shoe polish, and used vivid to make patterns on the wings. We were so, so proud of our art work when we had finished!!

Devonport School Trip.

On Thursday the 5th of September we went on a bus to Devonport to look at landscapes. My mum came to help us. We noticed that there are some manmade features and some natural features too.

We went into a dark, dark tunnel and found a cave with a window that we could look out. Mrs Kerr used a torch to show us the way. We found a big cannon to play on.

We could also see Rangitoto Island. We thought it looked like a triangle!!
We had an AWESOME day together on our school trip to Devonport!

Butterfly Symmetry.

We folded a piece of paper in half.
We painted one side of the paper with blobs and then we squashed the paper together.
When we opened the paper, we had two sides EXACTLY the same.
Our butterflies are symmetrical!
We also learned about the primary colours - red, blue and yellow.
Mrs Kerr mixed two colours to make one new colour.
These are called - secondary colours.
yellow blue made green
red + yellow made orange
and  blue + red made purple
The purple did look a bit brown though!
Come and see our beautiful butterflies.

My Numbers.

I am learning to write my numbers the correct way.
Today I have tried to do this all by myself.
It's tricky to do this without peeking at somebody else's!
